[ On the morning of the 13th, one day before Valentine's Day, a sudden text message appears from a Souji Seta. Perhaps you've talked to him before. Perhaps you haven't. Perhaps you're wondering why the hell you are receiving a text at six in the morning but look, let's not sweat the small details. Pay attention to the larger ones, like the contents of this very important message: ]
Hello.
Through the tides of fate, you have been chosen to participate in this year's Valentine's Day event: Blind Dating. It is believed that no one should be alone for such an important day and as such, you have been paired up with another lonely soul.
Your match is with Yin Longwei. Please contact them to plan out your date for tomorrow.
However, if you and your partner do not know what to do, there will be a booth in Recollé Square for the sole purpose of assisting unsure or confused participants of the event. There will be date suggestions, booklets of pick-up lines, and refreshments.
Hey, I asked about your photography rates last month for an album cover. I've got some money to pay you now, so let me know if you're still down to do this.
[ getting over to yosuke's house in the dead of the night wasn't really an issue, it was making sure he didn't look like a burglar that gave him a problem. his hair was a little mussed and he sorta just threw on some track pants and a hoodie...
maybe this was why he couldn't get a date.
either way, it's time for the moment of truth: ]
yo i'm outside let me in before someone thinks i'm here to kidnap you
[ He's probably not the most intimidating burglar around, but Yosuke does know that he would scare the shit out of his mom. And he likes his mom. So they're trying to avoid that.
So he's waiting with his phone on hand when Keigo finally arrives. ]
what did u wear a ski mask?
[ It takes him less than a minute, though, to the front door. He opens it slowly and quietly, sticking his head out before motioning Keigo to come in. ]
[ This is a week after Souji promised to talk to Keigo about this but Things Happened so he didn't get the chance to just find a proper time to text him but NOW IT'S HAPPENING SO THAT'S WHAT MATTERS ]
I know this is out of the blue, but can I ask you something?

[The message that Keigo gets isn't through text - but rather through Retrospec's DM feature. Baren's paranoid about people getting his phone number, but he wonders if that's even necessary if what he thinks happened... actually happened here. There are memories in his head that definitely weren't his, of a sister that didn't belong to him, and tendencies that were just wildly out of character.
So.
A text - not that Keigo would probably know who it is automatically, seeing as Baren's Retrospec user picture is that of a cat's eye. But at least his name is stuck there. Baren Kaiyou, the model, and right now, the troublemaker.]
you stalker ghost hunter whoever you are i apparently have business with you
[ well, that was odd. getting direct messages through retrospec wasn't especially common for him, especially not from a stranger. but there was something about the name that just clicked. keigo didn't want to consider it, but perhaps those strange visions he received really weren't in any way related to him. thankfully.
still, the text was rude, and keigo wasn't about to let it slide. mostly because of that one little word he used... ]
I'M NOT A STALKER OMG
god
who are you???? are you the guy that these visions are about or some shit???
[ Yosuke never realized how much he kind of schedules his life around his shifts at work. Though he's able to get up and walk around, his doctor did recommend that he take a couple weeks off to rest and heal up as much as he can. He would probably be using that time to rest better if Yu hadn't been able to help at least speed up the healing process thanks to his...weird summony creatures. His sprained ankle is pretty much good to go and most of his cuts and bruises are gone.
His arm, though...still in a cast.
And it itches like crazy.
Yosuke sighs dramatically as he flops back onto his bed. His mother doesn't like the idea of Yosuke being alone much despite the fact that he's all grown up now. (You know, seventeen.) But it is nice to have his cousin around. Even if they're just being bums and playing video games and whatnot. ]
[ if keigo had it his way, he would have taken yosuke's place in a heartbeat. his cousin was one of the few people in recolle that he would take a damn bullet for, no questions asked, and knowing he had no feasible way to prevent what had happened from happening made him feel kind of useless. realistically, he couldn't be there all of the time for him, but it still didn't stop him from putting himself down over everything that had transpired. not to mention, souji being part of that whole fiasco, too...
keigo sighed. he was excellent as masking his deeper feelings, but even still, it was hard to miss how distracted he was when yosuke spoke up. ]
Eh? Oh...
[ keigo leaned to one side and, rather lazily himself, stretched across to grab one of the nearby pens on yosuke's desk. ]
so, what i'm saying is like work with me here, it's hypothetical as hell, just follow along but like the equation could be used in a(n, again, hypothetical) situation to gauge the growth of an *online* population the same way that it's used to quantify the general growth of a smaller demographic. it would just need some adjustments, but it does, seriously, make a pretty decent baseline to work with.
[ It had originally been Nihoncha that he'd wanted to go see, but standing in front of the lot that he was so sure that he'd memorized the address for when he'd last looked it up on Google, it just doesn't exist. Minato rubs at the back of his head, looking part sullen and part embarrassed, because it's so obvious that he doesn't know this city and can't suggest somewhere else to go or something else to do besides stand dumbly in front of an empty parking lot, willing Nihoncha back into existence because that would be easier than dropping his hand and turning to Keigo in defeat. That's what he does in the end, though, because there's no other choice. ]
Sorry... I'll have to rely on you for this. What's one place that's a must-see before the business shuts down overnight?
[ keigo was all too eager to meet new people and hang out around the city; he loved making new friends, after all! but they had already hit something of a snag: the place minato had specified was no longer there. weird. ]
...This is weird. It should be here.
[ keigo frowned, almost straight-up skirting around minato's question. he pulled his phone out, taking a picture of the missing storefront, pocketing it again after a moment. ]
But... hm. This isn't a great sign, is it... Your guess is as good as mine on what's still gonna be up an running, I bet. We can start down the street and take a look, though...
